Sadly, one in five children in Germany go to school every morning on an empty stomach.

brotZeit e.V. was founded 15 years ago by actress Uschi Glas to actively addresses the issue of hunger and the associated inequality of opportunity by helping children at primary schools with a free, nutritious breakfast.

With over 2,000 breakfast helpers across Germany , we believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It provides basis for positive interactions at school leading to better grades and a fair chance at education.

The volunteers are usually made up of senior citizens who are not just responsible for the breakfast, but are also there to listen to the children. In this way, they contribute a valuable service and start their day with a sense of fulfillment.
